Telephone befriending service launches!

Following developments over recent weeks, Linking Lives UK has been adapting our current home visiting approach to create a new telephone befriending service – ‘Two’s Company’ which provides churches with an opportunity to reach and support those who are particularly at risk during this time. The model encourages partnerships with existing responses on a local level, and recommends using telephone befrienders who have already been vetted for previous roles by the church. Training is provided by video conferencing to coordinators, and is then ‘cascaded’ to volunteers in the local church. Jeremy Sharpe, National Director of Linking Lives UK, explains ‘we are very much aware that churches will be looking for safe and effective ways to engage with local people at this difficult time.

The new approach is currently being piloted in four parts of the UK, following which it will be launched on a national level. If you represent a church or Christian organisation and would like to receive our initial information pack followed by updates on the full launch of the initiative, please complete the form below or call call project coordinator, Angela Caley on 0800 061 4158.
