"In this election year, as leaders come and go, we, as Christians, are reminded of our unchanging foundation and complete reliance on the supremely good and trustworthy King of Kings. Not only in the UK, but across the globe where the words and actions of flawed human beings are under intense scrutiny, we are delighted to extend a warm invitation to every delegate to reflect upon the remarkable life of the only impeccable man to have walked this earth and to draw closer to him.
There have been many powerful leaders, but few are powerful and kind. There have been many wise leaders, but few who are wise with unblemished character. Many have been bestowed with great authority, but few use this to truly empower others. Jesus really is unrivalled, for in all his attributes of strength, we find matched a purity of character unlike any other leader in history.
At Commission Festival, we seek to echo John the Baptist's cry, “I must decrease, He must increase.” We desire to be a family of churches marked by a deep passion for Jesus that results in obedience to his commands and commission. Each main session will be rooted in a passage from John’s gospel, drawing truth from Jesus' life and teachings that will fuel our worship of God and His mission to reach the world for His glory.
We will have many opportunities to sing together, declaring life-giving truth and basking in God's glorious presence. ‘Unrivalled Jesus’ isn’t just a festival theme; it is everything for us —we seek to be a Christ-centred people, living to make him famous to the ends of the earth, in the places we live, work, worship, and are sent.
