CST23: All in for Jesus

My name is Chris and for the past 5 years, I’ve had the joy of running CST. CST is a one-day event which seeks to serve the young adults of Commission by bringing them together annually for a day of teaching, worship, encounter and equipping. Imagine the festival, in one day, for a bunch of people in their 20’s and early 30’s.

Each year we have a different theme, and this year it is about being “All in for Jesus”. It’s so easy for us to be consumed by a lot of good things in those early years: from finishing the degree, to getting a job, setting up life and finding a relationship. These are all good things, however, it’s easy to forget that we are made with a purpose, given by the King. We are ambassadors to King Jesus. He has given us a future and a hope. So what is that? How do I take steps towards it? I don’t feel qualified. What about these distractions? These are questions being tackled throughout the day, in different forms.

In the morning Steve Petch will be reminding us that God has made us each unique. We have our own personalties, skills and passions, and God has a purpose for each of our lives. His talk will be looking at how the things that YOU are passionate about can be used by God to fulfil HIS purposes, both in you and through you, when you are ALL IN for Him. At the end of the session, John Groves and Mark Landreth-Smith will be leading us in a time of prophetic encouragement and encounter with God.

After lunch we’ve got a panel of our seminar speakers and others at different stages sharing how they each pursue Jesus now in their lives. There will also be a Q&A session to dig into these topics.

In our seminars - Sarah Britton, who left America to be a missionary, will lead a seminar on what it means to count the cost of following Jesus, and to say no to the things that the world encourages us to say yes to. Andy McCullough will share what pursing Jesus looks like whilst on cross-cultural mission. John Groves will be sharing how we hear God’s voice grow in the gift of prophecy. Rosie Hopley will be sharing about how being all in for Jesus, means never forgetting the poor.

Having heard a lot throughout the day, we’ve then got a practical workshop led by Peter and Priscilla, where we can think about what the next steps might be for us. This is a great time for our young adults to meet others across our Commission family, who might be on a similar journey to them in Christ.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Commission event without food - so dinner is included!

We’ll finish up our day in worship and hearing from Guy and Heather Miller. It’s clear for all of us to see that they have lived their lives as an example to each of us of, as to what it means to live a life all in for Jesus. They will encourage us to do the same, and to be filled with his spirit to run our race well.

‘“I have the right to do anything”, you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive... So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God’. 1 Corinthians 10:23, 31

Moments and days, like these in our lives, when we come away from the busyness of life with others and encounter God, can have ripples for many decades.

I look forward to seeing many of our young adults at Hope Church, Winchester on Saturday 18th November. Doors open at 9.30am for a 10am start, finishing at 8pm.

It’s just £18 & dinner is included!

More Information and booking can be found here.

God bless,

Chris
