Serving with Passion and Purpose

By Jenave Jeevananthan

When I first began serving in 2013 at Commission Festival (or previously Westpoint), it was a holiday at a discounted rate and a great event to go along to as someone who was new to church life. Although this is how it started for me, I have since become comfortable in my church, have grown in my walk with God, and have discovered and grown in the gifts which God has given me. Over the years attending and serving at the festival together as a family of churches has encouraged me to be part of the vision and people of Commission and I have been equipped for the gospel mission through teaching, as well as in my life as a Christian in a bigger sense. Being part of this adventure also means serving, where possible and able.

Having been on a couple different teams over the years at Westpoint I have seen the importance of serving, not just because I love serving, but because the more of us serve at the event the more enjoyable it is for all. And let’s speak some truth here – Jesus did it first, right?!  He came to live amongst us, and he served us. I am called to journey in his footsteps as I walk as a Christian.

The role of the Info Point is to be a friendly face to welcome delegates, answer questions where possible, help with activity sign ups, hold all lost & found items and/or direct you to another required person, if we are not able to help...the latter is why we get to have radios with ear-pieces not just for pretending to be a Spy😉 The Info Point team are there to make the event as accessible and smooth as possible for all delegates...BUT we are not the only team making this happen, there are many others helping make the event as enjoyable for ALL ages. Maybe there is a team that you could serve on?  Where and what is your area of gifting? Maybe you would also like a discount?!

I am excited to be at Bath and West Showground this year to gather together with the ‘extended’ church family worshipping, growing in faith, and serving with & for one another, especially as we haven’t been able to meet for four years.

Prayer points:

  • Pray for joy and humility to flourish in our hearts and for our gifts to grow, in whichever way we are serving over the weekend.

  • Pray that other serving areas have enough servers, so that all delegates old and young have a fun weekend AND most importantly are meeting with God.
